Suffa Observatory

The search for a place to build a Radio observatory took 5 years. The first stone laying on the foundation of the observatory under construction was in may 1981. From 1981 to 1991, the facility operated an astroiclim observing weather station. In 1985, he graduated from the USSR Academy of Sciences with A. M. At the Shchusev project Institute, the MRAO "Suffa" building and facilities project was developed. In 1995, an intergovernmental agreement was signed between Russia and Uzbekistan on joint work to complete the construction of “Suffa”. In 2003, it was estimated that $ 19 million would be needed to complete the RT-70. Construction resumed in 2007. The Institute of mechanical engineering problems (IPMASh RAS) and the Department of RIS, IMOP, St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University participate in the development of RT-70 control systems.
