Uvol is a village nestled in the embrace of mountains, where snow never melts from the peaks, and the hem of Molguzar’s blue cloak touches its lands, with green gardens comparable to paradise. The people of Uvol describe their village as “an ancient place rich in historical tales and endowed with natural beauty”. Landmarks crafted by the skilled hand of nature, ancient stone fortresses tied to history, and the legend-filled valleys of Uvolsoy (mentioned as “Vol Valley” in Khofiz Tanish Mir Muhammad Bukhari’s Abdullanama), the verdant waterfalls of Sharilloq, the hoofprints of Duldul, the horse ridden by Hazrat Ali, and traces of his chain and sword—all are found here.

Those who visit once long to return.

In the Uvolsoy valley, there is a pilgrimage site known as “Parpi Oyim.” Within its grounds lies the “Teshiktosh”, a stone said to heal ailments, and a cast-iron tomb. Childless women pass through the Teshiktosh three times and tie its stone to their waist to fulfill their deepest wishes. Higher up, in the elevated part of the valley, there is a cave where numerous books have been discovered. On the cliffs, it is said, there were residences and dungeons of beks. Crossing the playful waters at the valley’s base leads to a place called “Toyganchiq”.

This is a smooth, polished surface, worn slick by time and footsteps, about ten to twelve paces long, where sliding is believed to relieve back pain and leg weakness. On this rock face, partially faded Arabic inscriptions are carved. Poetic lines, written in calligraphic script, span about two to two and a half cubits, though their author and date remain unknown. It is known that in the Shahristan mountains, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur had a ghazal carved into stone. Researchers speculate that this inscription may belong to him.
